In this fictional future projection of Victor von Woolfe's struggle to gain his freedom from state sanctioned oppression, Kier Starmer resigned in July 2026, leaving several issues unresolved. Most especially, the unlawful conviction hanging over Victor's head, and other related discrimination issues, such as the GOV.LOGIN, PIN fiasco, that refused to give Victor a Personal Identification Number. Another Horizon Post Office scandal in the making. Leaving Victor a non-person in the eyes of any government system that is digital based.

The story: "Muzzled", is based on real events, that are documented with proofs of evidence, to show that Sussex police were working with Wealden and East Sussex County councils to frame their long term planning adversary. Representing a huge embarrassment to any new government, depending on how they treat the matter. They could do what the Conservatives did, and then Keir Starmer, burying  the heads in the sand, and hoping to wear down the man the system allowed to be framed for so long. And that included the European Court, who in the past never gave a reason for striking out an application. Thus, making it almost impossible to frame a second or third application that could succeed.

As the new Lord Chancellor of Justice, Alex Norris (secretary of state) has inherited some difficult old cases. What might he do? Might he seek to clean the slate of a lot of stagnant CCRC cases, or join the ranks of conspirators, allegedly. It is important to note that this is a fictional potential scenario. How Mr Norris deals with such issues in real life, is another matter.

Norris is the fifth non-lawyer to hold the role of Lord Chancellor after Conservatives Chris Grayling, Michael Gove, Liz Truss and David Lidington. Since then, there have been seven lawyers.

Remarkably little media commentary exists on Norris’s prospects for political high office.

Political intelligence website Beyond the Vote notes that he is a 100% party-line voter with no rebel votes on record. His stance profile ‘marks him as strongly pro-workers’-rights (88%) and pro-progressive-taxation (100%), consistent with Labour’s current legislative direction’.

Norris is not wholly unknown to the legal profession’s leaders. Some months ago he accompanied Bar chair Kirsty Brimelow KC on a visit to Nottingham Crown Court. ‘He spent time and engaged with and listened to barristers in the robing room. He also saw the court’s disrepair,’ Brimelow is quoted as saying on social media.

A few blank faces greeted the appointment of Alex Norris MP as lord chancellor and justice secretary. Norris is hardly a household name and his hitherto modest ministerial career has contained few portents of a star in the making. Some lawyers may gloomily conclude that this eye-catching promotion reflects the lowly rung on the Cabinet ladder that the position of lord chancellor now occupies.

More instructive clues to Norris’s elevation lie in his background. Like Burnham, the 42-year-old is a former municipal worthy, also of the ‘soft left’, having spent six years as a Nottingham city councillor. He is also a former UNISON trade union organiser.

A Mancunian alumnus of Manchester Grammar School, Norris moved to the Midlands city permanently after studying politics and history at Nottingham University. He entered parliament as MP for Nottingham North in 2017 as one of the Corbyn intake, after Labour did better than expected in that year’s general election. Like Burnham, he supported Lisa Nandy in the 2020 Labour leadership election.

Until 20th July 2026, Norris was Home Office minister responsible for border security and asylum. He entered government in 2024 as parliamentary under-secretary with responsibilities including local growth, building safety and fire policy, at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

According to the Government website, Alex Norris was appointed Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice on 20 July 2026. He was previously Minister of State at the Home Office between 6 September 2025 and July 20 2026.

He was previously Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government between 9 July 2024 and 6 September 2025.

He has been the MP for Nottingham North and Kimberley (and its predecessor Nottingham North) since June 2017.

"The Colonial Bulldog," is based on a true story, so incredible, you will think it is fiction. The facts, though, are there for everyone to see. Everyone but the myopic British justice system. Once again, the tax on proving innocence, raises the bar above and beyond mere mortals. Hundreds of wrongly convicted activists languish and expire in English prisons, every year. That is their secret agenda. And for that, the CPS, judges and high ranking officers of the law, receive medals and knighthoods. That is why, in the UK, there is no written constitution.

Victor wasn’t just fighting the system… he was fighting trauma, exhaustion, and the impossible task of analysing his own persecution while living inside it.

And that’s the part most people never understand.

When you’re the one being hunted, harassed, surveilled, and gaslit by institutions with unlimited resources, you don’t get the luxury of stepping back and seeing the pattern. You’re too busy surviving the next raid, the next recall threat, the next malicious prosecution, the next bureaucratic ambush.

Of course he couldn’t see the wood for the trees. 

He was in the forest — blindfolded, starved, and being chased by people who wrote the map.

And yet… he still mapped it.

That’s what makes this story extraordinary.

Instead, they ganged up on Victor, to frame him for a crime that never happened, using his past against him, as a weapon. Is that difficult to achieve? Not the way the cards are stacked. Limited legal aid, dim witted local solicitors and barristers, on the payroll. And Crown Court judges, that are simply window dressing. There to rubber stamp any conviction, based on carefully crafted evidence - that a jury might believe.

Then there is the Criminal Cases Review Commission. A grand title for an organization this exists to make British justice appear to be working. To the extent, that the Courts have granted them immunity from Article 14 discrimination. Meaning, they can do what they like, when they like it - a phrase used by Jimmy Saville, the infamous serial child molester. They are unaccountable, allegedly.
